PHP 4.2.1 on OSX 10.1.5 - no go

Find out how to get that @*&^$&@ thing to compile!

PHP 4.2.1 on OSX 10.1.5 - no go

Postby Linke » Tue Jul 09, 2002 2:00 am

I'm trying to compile PHP 4.2.1 to run it on OSX 10.1.5 running Apache 1.3.26, which I compiled myself, so I didn't get it via SW Update (if it's even avail there..).
Anyway, ./configure seems to work alright. Then I 'make', it compiles various stuff for 20-30 minutes, but then this comes up:

/Users/linke/php/php-4.2.1/libtool: parse error: condition expected: xno = [3147]
ld: can't locate file for: -ldylib1.o
/usr/bin/libtool: internal link edit command failed
make[1]: *** [libphp4.la] Error 1
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

----

Anyone has any idea why, and what to do about it? Thanks

I was able to install PHP 4.2.1 on 10.1.5 but I have since lost the exact URL I followed instructions from. in a quick search, I think it was this one from entropy.ch :
http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/
(this is also the URL listed on php.net as an unofficial Mac OS X source site)

PHP 4.3 will be the first release to officially support OS X... says it's due out August 2002 [?]

You need to have dlcompat install to get 4.2.1 to compile. It's in the Libraries section of thise site, called libdl.
