GIMP w/ tif and jpeg

Who has full on GIMP?

The version I set up from forked works great except it doesn't support tif and jpeg. And I don't have any filters - I would really like the edge detector.

I tried MacGIMP but the cursor goes away over the image in rootless X (not a good attribute of an image processing app [img]images/icons/wink.gif"%20border="0[/img] )

What's working for other folks out there?

I'm having the same problem. Well, don't know about filters, but I do know I can't save files as anything other than .xcf.

I've tried installing some of the other packages in the library section, but nothing seems to have worked (and I can't seem to install gd-1.8.4 it's not a package and when I try to make it it breaks).

This is pretty annoying if anyone knows what's wrong.
