gawk - missing library

gawk (3.1) is complaining it cannot find a dynamic library:
dyld: gawk can't open library: /usr/local/lib/libintl.1.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

Where could I get this library or could gawk be repackaged to include it?
