the error is:

[localhost:~] fsb% xmms

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library
dyld: xmms version mismatch for library: /usr/lib/libz.1.dylib (compatibility version of user: 1.1.3 greater than library's version: 1.0.0)

i think i have zlib.1.1.3 installed:

[localhost:~] fsb% ls -l /usr/lib/libz*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 60468 Jan 8 20:12 /usr/lib/libz.1.1.3.dylib
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 16 Jan 27 10:18 /usr/lib/libz.1.dylib -> libz.1.1.3.dylib
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 16 Jan 27 10:18 /usr/lib/libz.dylib -> libz.1.1.3.dylib
[localhost:~] fsb% ls -l /usr/local/lib/libz*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 72132 Feb 5 20:06 /usr/local/lib/libz.a

i'm running os x.1.2 on a ti g4 w/ 512m

i know this has been discussed here before but i didn't find a solution.

Nope, I'm running into the same problem myself. I've scoured the previous posts regarding xmms, but haven't seen a solution yet.

However, I've seen some other discussion from people who _have_ gotten it running, and are dealing with issues like getting eSound to work; so some people managed to get it going.

Can anyone provide a solution to this problem? Thanks!

I've found in /usr/lib (on Jaguar MacOS X 10.2) there are this three files:
libz.1.1.3.dylib
libz.1.dylib
libz.dylib
liby.a

Are they zlib (libz.a)?
If yes, as can I ./configure?

i think if we can just find libz 1.0.0 somewhere, everything will be ok. but i can't find it.

Same thing for me,
that missing libz is really a great deception,
if someone can go threw that problem, we are a few waiting for a solution that would be very appreciable.

come on programmers help us again!
thanks in advance
