xchat not working

when i try to run xchat by typing it into my term is gives the following msg: [localhost:~] dave% xchat

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C

Gdk-WARNING **: can not set locale modifiers

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
[localhost:~] dave%

i also tried double clicking it in my /local/bin folder and that did nothing. please help me out

You need to have Xfree86 installed and running.

Xchat port does not work! using MAC OS X (10.3.7)

My-ibook~Me$ xchat
dyld:xchat cant open library: /System/Library/Perl/darwin/CORE/libperl.dylib (no such file or directory, errno 2)

that sucks. Any way to remove the whole sick package? something like uninstal or rmp -e package.rpm ???
