why offer this package?

OK. I don't get the purpose of this site if you simply offer the source for something.

Examples are: GD and MRTG

You simply offer a link to the source. (Which won't compile) I thought you guys turned all these into .pgk files for easy installation.

Why are some .pkg and others are still source?

Just because they aren't .pkg files, doesn't mean they only contain the original source code. Those packages have the compiled binaries of the applications and the modified source (if any).
